Jobs Queensland’s ‘Grow Your Own’ projects are designed to equip regions with the workforce  they need both now and in the future.

They will tackle a range of workforce challenges including attraction, development, retention,  career transition, diversity and industry growth.

The program is funded by Jobs Queensland and powered by the Queensland Government’s  Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022–2032.

Round three of Jobs Queensland’s GYO program is funding eight key projects:

A workforce plan for the aged care industry in North Queensland aims to address the  need for an additional 110,000 workers nationwide by 2026.

Schools, students and parents will discover careers in the active industry through an  ‘Unleash Your Potential’ project.

A workforce development plan will future-proof Toowoomba’s health workforce that supports 17,500 jobs and contributes over $1.3 billion to the local economy. Arts and recreation services in Central Western Queensland will receive a tailored  plan to secure their future workforce.

A workforce plan for Central Queensland’s manufacturing industry will help secure  the workforce needed for large-scale clean energy projects.

Childcare facilities and educator numbers in the Central Highlands region will be  addressed through a workforce sustainability project.

Industries in the Maranoa region will enhance workforce attraction, development and  retention to meet demand.

A workforce plan will address critical shortages in the local tourism industry adjacent  to the 161-kilometre Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

Jobs Queensland Board Chair Jim Varghese AM: said,

“Jobs Queensland’s ‘Grow your own’ regional workforce program is founded on working with  stakeholders on the ground to deliver workforce solutions they need.”
